The body of a 55-year-old jeweller, with bullet injuries, was found at Nagla Bhartiya village here, police said today.

Kunvar Pal Singh, a resident of Hathras district, was going to Baldeo yesterday with around seven kg ornaments when he was allegedly shot dead, Deputy SP Surendra Singh Yadav said.

Rs 10,000 was found in the pocket of the jeweller and his motorcycle was also recovered, he said, adding four police teams have been formed to nab the accused.

This incident comes close to the heels of the killing and loot of two jewellers in Mathura district on May 15, following which four police personnel were suspended.

It created a flutter in the state with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath declaring in the Assembly that the case would be solved within three days.
