A jeweller was allegedly robbed of jewellery worth nearly Rs two crore by four armed men along with his car and Rs 3 lakh cash in East Delhi's Geeta Colony.

Rajesh Kumar, who deals in trading of wholesale jewellery and runs his business from Chandni Chowk, was returning to his home in Preet Vihar on Saturday when the incident took place.

When his car crossed the Shantivan Flyover and reached near the SDM office in East Delhi at about 10 pm, a Maruti Zen intercepted the vehicle forcing it to stop.

Two men, one armed with a pistol and another with a knife, emerged from the car and ordered Kumar and his driver to step out, police said.

"When the driver refused to roll down the window glass, the robbers shattered it and pulled both of them out. One of them ordered Kumar to hand over the bag containing jewellery. When Kumar resisted, they assaulted him," a police official said, adding, they fled with the jewellery, cash and the car.

Kumar then called up the police using the driver's phone as his phone got lost in the entire commotion, police said.

Police team arrived at the spot and registered a case of robbery and assault against unidentified persons.

Kumar's employees, including his driver Babloo, are being questioned by the police.

Police is also checking the CCTV footages in Chandni Chowk to see if any Maruti Zen car was following Kumar's car at any point of time.
