A jeweller was shot at by two

motorbike-borne men in Padribazar area under Shahpur police station area here, police said today.

Devi Verma (24), the gold merchant and his brother Shubham, were on their way to home after closing the shop located in Jungle Dhusan area when two bike riders shot at Verma and tried to snatch a bag. Shubham, the pillion rider showed courage and snatched a pistol of the assailant and fired in the air, they said.

Hearing the gun shots, people gathered at the spot but the miscreants managed to escape.

Devi has been admitted at BRD Medical College here, police said, adding his condition continues to be critical.
 

A case has been registered and investigations are on, police said.

This is the second such incident in as many days here.

Abhishek Ranjan Agrawal (40), a trader, was shot dead on June 18 in crowded market area of Gandhi Gali.
