A jeweller was allegedly looted and shot dead by some unidentified assailants in Maurawan area here, police said today.
The incident took place last night near Panchamkheda in the Maurawan area when the robbers intercepted Rajkumar (35) who was returning home after closing his shop, Additional Superintendent of Police, Hardayal Singh said.
When the jeweller resisted the loot bid, they shot him dead on the spot and fled away with the jewellery bag he was carrying, Singh said.
Attempts are on to workout the case, he said adding the exact amount of loot could not be ascertained as yet.
