Jeweller shot dead, ornaments worth lakhs of rupees looted

A 50-year-old jeweller was shot dead allegedly by six motorcycle-borne assailants who fled with cash and ornaments worth lakhs of rupees at Lavana crossing here, police said today.

Balaji Soni was sitting in his shop yesterday when the assailants opened fire on him, they said.

Soni was killed on the spot.

The body has been sent for post-mortem and a case has been registered, police said.
