Jeweller son shot at, two police officials suspended

A jeweller's son who had complained to police about alleged extortion calls was shot and seriously injured at his showroom by two unidentified bike-borne assailants in Mansorpur village here.

Two police personnels have been suspended following the incident yesterday for allegedly not acting on the complaint of victim Chitranjan Rana (26) who is in critical condition.

SHO of Mansorpur police station Anand Mishra and SI Jitender Sharma have been suspended yesterday for not taking any action on the complaint filed by the victim 15 days back of receiving a threat call demanding extortion money of Rs 10 lakh, SSP K B Singh said.
 

A case has been registered, Singh said adding that further investigations is underway.
