A jewellery store owner was murdered in his shop allegedly by two men who decamped with gold, silver and cash collectively valued at Rs 11.72 lakh, police said today.

The incident took place yesterday afternoon when the suspects, a plumber and an electrician, were doing some repair job inside the store in suburban Kandivali.

The deceased, Chandraprakash Sevak, was taking a nap inside his shop when the two slit his throat with a sharp object. The duo pulled down the outlet's shutter and escaped with the booty, said an officer of Kandivali police station.

According to police, the two had been contacted by Sevak sometime ago to carry out plumbing and wiring work in the shop.

"When Sevak did not return home last night, his brother reached the store, where he found him in a pool of blood with valuables missing," they said.

During inspection of the spot, police found that CCTV cameras and storage equipment were also missing. A hunt has been launched for the duo.
