Soon after opening his jewellery shop, Ashok Soni received a call from a mobile number of Delhi, they said.

The anonymous caller told Soni that a person named Daan Singh, who lives behind his shop, had met with an accident and that he wanted to talk to Singh's family members.

Soni rushed to Singh's house, only to find that it was a prank call.

When he returned to the shop, he found his bag containing jewellery worth Rs 20 lakh missing from the counter.

Following the initial clues, it appears that a bike-borne man stole the bag, police said, adding, the matter was being probed.
