Jewellery store employee arrested for stealing gold bars

The city police today arrested an employee of a jewellery store here for allegedly stealing gold bars worth Rs 3.5 lakh.

J Ravi Kumar Reddy (30), the accused, holds a B-tech degree and was working as a sales executive at Tanishq Jewellery store at the CBM Compound here since January.

DCP (crime) T Ravi Kumar Murthy said that Reddy was addicted to liquor and gambling, for which he needed money.

On April 26, having joined the duty at the store after a week's leave, he stole seven gold bars when other employees were attending a staff meeting.

Then he fled from the store. The owner found out about the theft after watching the CCTV footage.
 

Three-Town police station's sub-inspector L Damodara Rao and his team tracked Reddy down in Goa and arrested him. The police recovered all the stolen gold bars from him. Further probe is on.
