The Journalists' Forum Assam (JFA) has expressed shock at the killing of Odisha-based journalist Tarun Kumar Acharya (34) allegedly by miscreants on May 27 and demanded the culprits to be booked under the law.
The JFA in a statement issued by its president Rupam Barua and secretary Nava Thakuria urged the Naveen Patnaik-led Odisha government to take serious note of the incident and punish the perpetrators at the earliest.
Extending moral supports to local journalists for its further course of actions in this regard, the JFA also appealed the Odisha-based civil society and advocacy groups to stand behind the bereaved family.

Acharya working at a private Odia television channel in Ganjam district was allegedly killed by some unidentified miscreants and his body with injury marks on neck was recovered from a roadside near Khallikote police station in Odisha, according to police.
