The CPI-ML (Liberation) activists blockaded the Grand Trunk road in Giridih district for an hour while bandh supporters hit streets in certain pockets in Ranchi, Garwha, Lohardaga, Latehar and Gumla for a couple of hours, according to police sources.
Long distance buses from some districts like Palamau, Chatra, Gumla connecting to Ranchi were off the roads, the sources added.
"At a time when a debate is on in the country that agriculture land should not be acquired, the state government should return the agriculture land at Nagri to farmers and shift the educational hub at barren lands," CPI (ML-Liberation) in MLA Vinod Kumar Singh told reporters in Giridih.
Various tribal organizations are also opposed to setting up of the education hub in the agriculture land at Nagri and want that the hub be instead set up in barren land.
A clash took place between the police and the villagers opposed to setting up of educational hub in the agriculture land on July 4 that left several persons, including police personnel, injured at Nagri on the outskirts of the state capital.
