"Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi and his counterpart in Bihar Nitish Kumar have been wooing foreign investors to choose their respective states for investment. Yet they are opposing FDI," PCC General Secretary Sailesh Sinha said.

Leaders of NDA and Left parties should understand that Centre had made FDI in multi-brand retail an option for the states, he said.

"Time would tell when the opposing leaders would follow the success stories of other states opting for FDI," Sinha said.

Citing how the subsequent government had taken forward the 1991 liberalisation, Sinha said FDI would "open enormous job opportunities".

"Both farmers and consumers would benefit from FDI. Middlemen will be kicked out," Sinha said a day before BJP is scheduled to meet Jharkhand Governor Syed Ahmed to lodge protest against FDI in multi-brand retail.
