In the wake of the abrogation of Article 370, stripping Jammu and Kashmir of its special status, Jharkhand Police chief Kamal Nayan Choubey on Monday reviewed security arrangements and asked officials to remain on alert during the forthcoming festive season.

Chairing a meeting with senior police officers through video conferencing at the state police headquarters, DGP Choubey called for alertness in all the 24 districts of the state, a police officer said.

The DGP also asked the officers to keep vigil on the anti-social elements due to the coinciding of Bakrid and the last Monday of Shravani Mela on August 12, he said.

The review meeting comes after the Home Ministry circular to the chief secretaries and the DGPs of all the states and union territories, asking them to maintain law and order in the wake of the abrogation of Article 370.

"...It is essential that this occasion is not allowed to be misused by inimical and anti-social elements to cause breach of security, peace and public harmony in any part of the country," the circular read.
