Jharkhand Governor Droupadi Murmu and Chief Minister Raghubar Das Tuesday paid floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi on his 149th birth anniversary and urged the people to fulfil the dreams of the father of the nation.
Garlanding the statue of Gandhiji here, the governor said that we can build a prosperous Jharkhand and India by treading the path shown by Mahatma Gandhi.
Murmu said that it was necessary to move forward by shunning differences of caste and religion.
She said that Mahatma Gandhis 'Swachch Bharat' will be fruitful when it is made a peoples movement.
Addressing on the occasion, the chief minister said that Ranchi-based Audrey House, a premises where Suchana Bhavan is situated, would be renamed as 'Mahatma Gandhi Smriti Bhavan.'
Stating that it is our duty to fulfill Mahatma Gandhis dreams, Das said 99 per cent of Jharkhand has become open defecation free(ODF).
Before 2014 only 16 per cent of area was ODF, he said, adding by November 15 this year the state would be 100 per cent ODF.
