Jharkhand govt to complete projects within a timeframe: CM

Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar today said the state government was committed to improve the existing infrastructure and complete projects within its scheduled timeframe.

Laying the foundation of nine projects worth Rs 243.60 crore at Birsa Munda auditorium premises here, Das said the Jharkhand government was committed to provide home to the homeless, piped drinking water, round-the-clock electricity and good roads to the people.

The government is working in a planned way to complete the projects within a timeframe, an official release said quoting the chief minister.

The chief minister said Prime Minister Narendra Modi had announced that no one would remain homeless by 2022 and the Jharkhand government was working to achieve the target.
 

"Houses have been provided to 20,000 families in Ranchi and the government has planned to construct 1-1.5 lakh pucca houses with water and electricity supply. Good roads are also being constructed," he said.

Das said, the poor also have the right to lead a dignified life and the benefits of government scheme should reach all sections of the society without any discrimination.

The projects for which the foundation was laid included strengthening, widening and beautification of Rajbhawan to Kantatoli road, construction of 444 flats at Islamnagar in Ranchi, a Kalirekha leper ashram in Deoghar, queue complex at Basukinath and construction of crematorium in Deoghar and Medininagar.

As far as urban development was concerned, the chief minister said there were some challenges including housing, traffic and transport, water supply, waste management and population control.

Efforts were also on to recycle water to make it usable for irrigation and generate electricity from garbage, he said.
