Jharkhand Guv asks people remain united, live in harmony

Jharkhand Governor Droupadi Murmu unfurled the National Flag here on Republic Day today and called upon the people to remain united and live in harmony.

She urged the people to take a pledge to root out anti- national elements, communalism, terrorism and LWE to put India among the powerful nations of the world.

The state was committed for all round development and its focus was on sensitive administration, electricity, irrigation, agriculture, education, health and empowerment of women, cleanliness, eradication of corruption and road development, she said.

Agriculture and farmers' development are the priority areas and for this Agriculture Single Window Centres were opened at every block headquarters. Attention was also being given to irrigation facilities.
 

She said the people can contact the adminsitration for redressing their problems through 'Mukhya Mantri Jan Samvad' and the government was readily finding solutions to them which helped to increase the people's faith in it increased.

To give a fillip to development Jharkhand was constructing a net work of quality roads and has added, 880 km road out of a target of 1450 km road, while 30 out of 40 bridges were completed in 2016-17, Murmu said.

For smooth traffic in the capital city, light metro on 16.5 km route has been proposed, she added.

Referring to healthcare, the governor said 'Chief Minister Free Diagnostics Scheme' has been approved to provide health care to BPL families and families having an annual income Rs 72,000.

Work has already begun for setting up of Jharkhand Technical University, Jharkhand Raksha Shakti Vishwavidyala and Jharkhand Institute of Craft and Design so that the state becomes and education hub.

MBA, BEd, MEd courses were being started, she said, adding work was also on to provide wi-fi to all colleges, besides facilitating libraries and laboratories.

Murmu said tourism was being promoted in Jharkhand and nod was given for development of Surya Temple at Giridih, Jharkhandi dham, Ameraswhar Dham at Khunti, Shivgadi dham at Sahibganj, Bhatinda fall at Dhanbad and Anjani dham at Gumla.

Under the newly introduced 'Mukhya Mantri Tirth Yojana' 3000 elderly people from below poverty line were sent for pilgrimage to Puri and Bhubaneswar, she said.
