Rajya Sabha member and former JPCC president Pradip Kumar Balmuchu today demanded that Jharkhand government send an all party delegation to trouble- torn districts of Assam, where many innocent tribals were massacred by Bodo Militants.

As the victims were all from Jharkhand, who had migrated to Assam decades ago, it was the responsibility of the state government to send an all party tribal delegation to assess the situation there and recommend the state as well as the Union government for necessary steps to ensure their safety and rehabilitation instead of relying on solely on the state government, Balmuchu told a press conference here.

He compared the Assam tribal killings with that of Peshawar incident in Pakistan recently where over 130 school children were gunned down by Taliban militants.

Balmuchu said he has already sent a letter to the AICC President Sonia Gandhi and Vice-President Rahul Gandhi urging them to send a delegation to assess the situation in Assam.

Balmuchu said he would lead a delegation soon to Assam and meet the affected families.

The Congress leader urged that the state government should raise above the political line and come together to express our solidarity with the affected people of Assam as they were all people of Jharkhand by origin.
