A 23-year-old jilted lover who had stabbed a 17-year-old college girl was arrested today near Ostapur on the outskirts of district headquarters town here.
Gyan Ranjan Rout had made romantic advances towards the victim girl. However the accused launched a murderous attack on the victim after she shunned him on November 3, the police said.
The assailant was booked under IPC section 307 (attempt to murder), 341 (wrongful restraint), 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapon), 364 (kidnapping or abduction) and 506 (criminal intimidation) was later remanded to judicial custody, police said.
