A youth, a college drop-out, allegedly slashed a girl with a blade in Sadasivpet town of Medak district in Telangana today because she had rejected his proposal, police said.

Circle inspector Venkatesham said the victim was a third year B. Com. Student.

Satish, native of Chelmada village, attacked her with a blade this morning near her college, and she received cuts on her right hand, he said. When other students rushed to her help, he fled.

The girl was taken to a hospital where she was treated and later discharged.

Satish had been dismissed from the college in the first year for bad behaviour, and he had been stalking the girl for some time, police said.

He had proposed to the girl and the girl had rejected it, police added.

He was arrested in the evening and booked under IPC section 307 (attempt to murder).
