JIPMER to offer treatment to patients from A&N islands

Centrally sponsored Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) here has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Andaman Nicobar Islands administration to provide health care facilities for patients from the islands.

The MoU was signed recently following the initiative taken by Lt Governor A K Singh of the islands, holding charge of Puducherry also, JIPMER Director Dr T S Ravikumar told reporters here today.

Already three patients from Andaman and Nicobar islands were treated at the institute for certain ailments and as per the MoU, treatment can be availed here for problems that cannot be handled in the island.
 

He also listed out various new measures, including construction of a compound wall as part of strengthening security, taken up by JIPMER.
