The Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) plans to establish a Rs 900-crore Institute of Organ Transplantation near here.
A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was inked by JIPMER on Monday with the CPWD for building the 400-bed institute on a 50-acre site provided by the Puducherry government free of cost to JIPMER, a press release said on Tuesday.
The site is located at Sedarapet village on the Puducherry-Mailam route.
The institute would have facilities for transplant of liver, heart, lungs, pancreas, hands and bone marrow, the release said.
