Jitender Singh announces college, VHF tower in Kishtwar

Union Minister Jitendra Singh, who concluded his two-day visit to the district today, announced setting up of a degree college, very high frequency tower and facility of medical ambulance for the remotest Paddar-Machail mountainous belt of Kishtwar district.

At the conclusion of his extensive tour of district Kishtwar covering remotest areas including Dachan, Chhatroo, Gulabgarh and Machail, Singh today announced a Degree College as well as a Medical Ambulance for Paddar and a Very High Frequency (VHF) Signal Tower for Machail, an official statement said here.

Both these projects were in pipeline and the work on College would begin as soon as land for the purpose was acquired with the assistance of state government, Singh added.
 

The Minister also said he was pursuing with the concerned Ministries on the issues of Chitto and Gandhari project and inclusion of Machail in tourist circuit.

Speaking to party workers and media persons here, Singh said during the election campaign, he had personally experienced difficulties arising due to inaccessibility, lack of telecommunication and poor road connectivity in these areas and therefore, "through today's announcement, he had tried to fulfill at least three of the major promises made by him during the election campaign".

He also informed that the issue of compensation to the victims of last year's Kishtwar riots had been taken up with the Union Home Ministry which had in turn asked for status report from state government and now district administration had been advised to find ways and means of compensating even those who had lost movable properties lodged in transport vehicles.
