The duration of the forthcoming Assembly session has been "deliberately" kept very short, of ten days, to prevent the MLAs from raising issues of public importance and concerning their respective assemblies as also revealing the mis-governance of the NC-Congress coalition government, said Jugal Kishore Sharma, Leader of the party legislature.

Another BJP legislator today claimed that his proposal of passing a resolution seeking implementation of provisions of the 73rd and 74th amendments of the Constitution has been turned down before the commencement of the session.

"Proposal for passing resolution in the forthcoming assembly session of ten days at Srinagar calling for implementing the provisions of 73rd and 74th amendments of the Constitution has been disallowed," said BJP MLA Ashok Khajuria.

"This indicates the sincerity of NC-Congress combine ruling the state," he said.

Passage of the resolution by the Assembly would have effectively empowered the 'panches' and 'sarpanches' and made them effective tools for social change at grass root level in the villages.

The MLA said they will be raising the issues of public importance in the Assembly session as also the issues specific to their respective constituencies.

The duration of the forthcoming Assembly session has been deliberately kept very short, of ten days, to prevent the MLAs from raising issues of public importance, Sharma said.
