Observing the day as "Balidan Diwas" the state unit of BJP today commemorated the death anniversary of Bharatiya Jana Sangh founder Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee.
"This day is observed as Balidan Diwas all over the country," a BJP spokesman said.
Paying rich floral tributes to the stalwart party workers recalled Mookerjee's contribution in the integration of nation among his other works.

"Dr Mookerjee sacrificed his life while agitating to end the permit system under which any one leaving or entering the state had to obtain a permit a practice which did not exist in any other state of the country," BJP state president and Jammu MP Jugal Kishore Sharma said.
Sharma said it was the sacrifices of Mookerjee that Jammu and Kashmir was fully integrated with rest of the country and it was considered as one of the great step for the national interest.
BJP leaders including former Union minister Chaman Lal Gupta threw light on the life Mookerjee and said that he lived and laid down his life for the integrity of the country for which the entire country was indebted to him.
