In the backdrop of continued ceasefire violations by Pakistani troops and loss of several lives, BJP in Jammu and Kashmir today said it will approach the Centre for providing an alternative land to the border residents for their rehabilitation in safer zones.

"Demand of alternative land being raised by the border residents is genuine and BJP would pursue this case at appropriate platform," general secretary of the state unit of BJP, Bali Bhagat, said.

He said that the party has decided to take up this issue with the Union Government.

"We have also asked the state government to provide alternative land to the border residents at safer zones because Pakistani soldiers are repeatedly targeting civilian population," general secretary of the state unit of BJP, Bali Bhagat, said.

The BJP leader visited Kanachak belt along with some other partymen and met people affected by the shelling from Pakistan.

Bhagat also visited houses of some people, including that of Ram Lal at Dub Sooden camp of 1971 refugees.

Lal lost three cows due to the shelling from across the border. The hapless family is on the verge of starvation because they were earning their livelihood by selling milk of these cows.

"It is high-time to teach Pakistan a lesson for killing civilians on this side of the border," Bhagat said.
