JK CM assures support to revive handloom, handicraft sectors

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti has assured support to the Handloom and Handicraft Development Corporation to get these sectors fully revised, an official spokesman said today.

The assurance was given by the chief minister to Nizam- ud-Din Bhat, vice chairman, Handlooms and Handicrafts Development Corporations, who called on her here last evening, he said.

Bhat apprised Mufti about the working of these corporations.

"The chief minister desired to get handicraft and handloom sectors in the state fully revised for which she assured him all support," the spokesman said.

She asked for devising schemes aimed at the welfare and prosperity of the artisan community to attract young talent in the sector, he said.
 

Bhat informed the chief minister that the two corporations have improved sales through better quality control, management and marketing.

He said incentives are being worked out to reach out to artisans which will help in the growth of art and craft in the state, the spokesman said.
