JK Cultural Academy to hold 3-day festival in Maharashtra

Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages will hold a three-day festival in Maharashtra from February 13 in a bid to showcase the rich cultural heritage of the state.

"A three-day Jammu and Kashmir festival is being held at Aurangabad, Maharashtra from February 13. The festival is being jointly organised by the J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages and West Zone Cultural Centre, Udaipur, Rajasthan," an official spokesman said here today.

He said that the festival will showcase the rich cultural traditions of the state through its folk music and dances.

"Over 150 artists of the state will perform in their traditional costumes and dresses. The dances to be presented will include ruff of Kashmir, bachnaga, Bhand Paeather, Dhambali dance, Geetru, Dogri dances, Kud, Ladakhi music and dances," he said.
 

He said that the festival is aimed at providing platform to the state artists to showcase their cultural ethos to the state of Maharashtra and also get opportunity to know the cultural traditions of that state so as to bring about cultural cohesion in the country.
