Press Trust of India Jammu
Jammu and Kashmir Congress today claimed that the compensation for damages, caused by the floods last month, is being delayed as the Centre has not accepted the package demanded by the state government so far.

"We express anguish as the delivery of compensation for the damages was getting delayed due to the fact that the Central government has not decided to accept the package required by the state government," former Union minister and state Congress chief Saifuddin Soz said today.

Soz also said that the Congress will provide "technically correct and workable inputs" to the state government and the Centre for a long-term plan to save the state, particularly low lying areas of Kashmir Valley from floods in future.

Flanked by state's tourism minister G A Mir, Soz visited flood-hit areas and interacted with people.

They also met delegations of people, particularly the flood sufferers.

Soz said that the ravages of the recent floods are vast spread and assured that he and his party was determined to ensure proper relief and rehabilitation.
