JK Floods: Insurance claims of nearly Rs 832 crore settled

Insurance claims amounting to Rs 831.91 crore of those affected by last year's floods have been settled by different banks in Jammu and Kashmir.

Banks had so far settled 23,740 insurance claims worth Rs 831.91 crore till January 10, according to state Finance Department officials.

This included 21,700 cases amounting to Rs 802 crore by J&K Bank and 141 cases worth Rs 13.19 crore by State Bank of India.

Punjab National Bank and Jammu & Kashmir Grameen Bank have settled 340 and 369 cases involving payment of Rs 4.60 crore and Rs 7.81 crore, respectively.

Ellaquai Dehati Bank and Bank of Baroda have decided 1,118 and 72 cases amounting to Rs 3.50 crore and Rs 0.81 crore, respectively, they said.
 

The governor, who reviewed the progress of cases of flood-hit people on Wednesday, has asked the Finance Secretary to closely monitor the progress of all pending cases and expedite payment of insurance claims.
