JK Governor, CM extends Christmas greetings

Jammu and Kashmir Governor, N N Vohra and Chief Minister Mufti Mohmmad Sayeed today greeted people on the occasion of Christmas.

In his message, the Governor said the teachings of Jesus Christ, the apostle of peace, compassion and brotherhood, have guided human beings towards righteousness.

He observed that the message of Lord Christ is perhaps more relevant today than ever before, when the world is ridden with hate, greed, intolerance and violence.

The Governor expressed hope that this auspicious occasion would help in further strengthening the bonds of communal harmony, brotherhood, amity, secularism and the traditions of pluralistic ethos for which Jammu and Kashmir has been known for centuries.
 

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mufti Mohammed Sayeed also wished the people a very Happy Christmas and prayed for peace, progress and prosperity in the State.

Sayeed expressed hope that the holy occasion would be a harbinger of peace, harmony, progress and prosperity for the state.

In his message, Mufti Sayeed said the essence of celebrating Holy Christmas lies in strengthening the values of compassion and love towards mankind.

"Christmas marks the birth of Jesus Christ and rekindles the spirit of peace and harmony. Let us resolve to promote unity and lead a true and virtuous life," he exhorted.

PDP President and MP Mehbooba Mufti, while greeting people on the occasion of Christmas, in a message urged people to apply the divine teachings of Hazrat Eisa (AS), which will lead us towards becoming a just and compassionate society.

"I pray that the birthday of Jesus Christ would strengthen the bonds of communal harmony, brotherhood and amity, which are the hallmark of J&K's unique pluralistic traditions," she added.
