Addressing reporters here, state BJP chief spokesperson and national executive member Jitendra Singh alleged Omar had set a dangerous precedent by offering choppers at the service of Geelani.

"By offering himself to be answerable to Geelani, the Chief Minister has accorded legitimacy to extra-constitutional authority of the separatist leadership," he said.

"Omar has taken the oath under the Constitution and is expected to act as its custodian," Singh said.

The Chief Minister should have instead declared that his government would abide by the directives of the Supreme Court and make improvements in facilities for Amarnath yatris, he said.

On Saturday, the Chief Minister had offered a helicopter ride to Geelani to ascertain the status of repairs on the track to the Amarnath cave shrine after the separatist leader had threatened to launch an agitation against what he alleged government plans to construct permanent facilities around the shrine.
