Jammu and Kashmir government today directed the state administration to stay alert in view of the inclement weather forecast issued by meteorological department for the next three days.
According to the MeT department, moderate to rather heavy rain (in plains) and snowfall (in higher reaches) of Jammu and Kashmir is likely from March 1 to 3 with the possibility of heavy rain and snowfall in south Kashmir.
Minister for disaster management relief rehabilitation and reconstruction Javaid Mustafa Mir directed divisional and district disaster management (DDM) authorities to be in a state of preparedness in view of the weather forecast.
The Minister also instructed the Inspector General of Police, Traffic, to ensure that all precautionary measures are taken well in advance for smooth traffic movement and clearance of stranded vehicles as the inclement weather might lead to a temporary closure of Jammu-Srinagar national highway, the only road linking Kashmir with rest of the country.
