Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh today met landslide-affected people in Kathua district and assured them that the government will rehabilitate them to safer areas.
Singh, who led a team of senior officers, visited landslide-hit area in Morha-Chuhara village in Billawar town of Kathua today and interacted with affected people, an official spokesman said.
As many as 40 houses and a government school building were damaged in the landslide at the village on the night of August 20.

The Dy CM said that government will identify the land for the rehabilitation of the affected people.
He promised full help to the people and said that ex-gratia relief will granted to them as per SRRF norms.
Singh asked the officers to immediately conduct a survey assessment of the affected people and damage caused to the infrastructure and houses and submit a report.
