Jammu and Kashmir government today said 1,298 illegal residential house and other structures, constructed near the Dal Lake between 2011 to 2013, have been demolished by the Lakes and Waterways Development Authority.
The anti-encroachment wing of Lakes and Waterways Development Authority (LAWDA) demolished 1,298 residential house and other structures, raised beyond 200 meters from the fringe of Dal Lake without permission, in Srinagar till December last, Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Mir Saifullah informed the Assembly.
He replied on behalf of Minister for Urban Development and Urban Local Bodies to a question posed by Mohammad Yasin Shah.

All illegal constructions in the area would be demolished and nobody would be allowed to raise their constructions beyond the limit in the vicinity of Dal Lake, he said.
The Minister said that FIRs have been lodged against 72 defaulters whose constructions came up in the notified and green belt areas.
