The Jammu and Kashmir government has decided to provide all life saving drugs free of cost in all government hospitals across the state by next year.
"Free life saving drugs in government hospitals will soon be a reality," state's Minister for health Chowdhary Lal Singh said addressing a public rally in Doda today.
"We are working in a missionary way to provide all the medicines free of cost in government hospitals by 2017-18," he further said.

Singh announced that in next one to two months over 70 per cent of medicines prescribed by the doctors will be available free of cost at all public health institutions.
He further said all medical tests will be conducted free of cost at all government hospitals by March this year.
The health minister also inspected the district hospital Doda where he stressed on maintaining cleanliness and asked for face-lifting of the building.
He also stressed on clean ambulances besides cleaning the hospital in evening hours when there is comparatively less rush.
For the convenience of the patients and their attendants, he asked for installation of steel benches in the park in the front side of the hospital.
Directions were also given for proper parking of vehicles facing the entry gate of the hospital premises so that they can immediately be rushed to spot in case of emergency.
