JK govt restricts speed of school buses to 50 KPH

Jammu and Kashmir government today ordered immediate installation of speed governors in transport vehicles as it fixed the maximum speed limit for school buses, trucks and vehicles carrying hazardous goods to 50 kilometre per hour (kmph).

The maximum speed of transport vehicles carrying hazardous goods and those transport vehicles that are dumpers, tankers, school buses has been preset at 50 kmph and speed shall be 60 kmph in respect of other transport vehicles, as per the notification issued by the State government today.

The government also issued directions for installation of speed limiting devices in transport vehicles.

Following the amendments made by the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways to a rule of Central Motor Vehicle Rules, State government was suggested by the Union Ministry to issue a notification in this regard.
