Jammu and Kashmir Government is in the process of devising a supply-chain management system to check the pilferage of foodgrains coming from Food Corporation of India to the state.
"National Information Centre (NIC), the executing agency, has been directed to expedite the work on developing the system so that the amount of foodgrains leaving FCI and reaching to state godowns can easily be tracked," Minister for Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution Chowdhary Zulfkar said at a meeting here.
The system is one of the important components of Electronic Public Distribution System (EPDS) that CAPD department is incorporating to keep track of the entire distribution system and ensure zero percent pilferage.
