Jammu and Kashmir Governor N N Vohra today asked the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB) to ensure early finalisation of the master plan for setting up of an independent complex for the nursing college in Reasi district.

Vohra was addressing the annual day function and 'lamp lighting and oath taking ceremony' of the second batch of BSc nursing students of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi College of Nursing at Kakryal.

"The SMVDSB need to ensure that the School of Architecture and Planning, New Delhi, very early finalises the master plan of the area adjoining the super-speciality hospital so that an independent complex for the college of nursing could be established expeditiously, to be followed by the establishment of the proposed medical college," he said.

Vohra called for intensification of efforts to make the college a front ranking institution in the country.

"The crucial need for all the stakeholders is to intensify effort to ensure that the college develops as a front rank institution in nursing and research and for its alumni to serve medical care with distinction," he said.

The governor hoped that the college would produce highly qualified and trained nurses who will help in strengthening the functioning of the health sector.
