JK Guv condoles death of Col Santosh

Jammu and Kashmir Governor N N Vohra today conveyed his condolences to top Army commanders on the martyrdom of Colonel Santosh Mahadik in an encounter in Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir.

Vohra personally spoke to Northern Army Commander, Lt Gen D S Hooda and GOC 15 Corps, Lt Gen S K Dua to convey his grief over the loss of Colonel Mahadik, CO, 41 RR, a decorated Special Forces officer, a Raj Bhawan spokesman said.

The Governor also conveyed his sympathy to the gallant officer's wife and family.

Santosh was killed in Kupwara district yesterday in an encounter with militants while leading a search party to flush out the hiding ultras.
 

Lt Gen D S Hooda paid tributes to the brave martyr in a ceremony organized at Srinagar Badami Bagh Cantonment.

His mortal remains were flown to Satara, Maharashtra from Udhampur Airfield where tributes were again paid by Lt Gen NPS Hira, Chief of Staff, Headquarters Northern Command.
