Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today trashed the reports that police personnel in the state have been deprived of necessary arms and ammunition while dealing with critical situations.
"To say that we have not given them arms is wrong, we have given them both weapons as well as batons and shields as well," Omar told Legislative Assembly here.
"I reject the impression being created that police personnel have been deprived of necessary arms and ammunition," the chief minister said, adding,"It is not true".

Omar said today,"They are operating under a mutually agreed upon SOP and always remain equipped with the necessary required ammunition when on law and order duty."
JK Police and paramilitary forces are working in the most difficult situation here as compared to other states of the country, they do not know what situation they have to face next morning, he said.
