The Jammu and Kashmir State Board of School Education (JKBOSE) has launched for the first time a 45-day coaching programme to help students prepare for entrance examinations of medical and engineering courses.

"The programme for the class 12th pass-outs will work on methodology different from other (private) coaching institutes and most experienced faculty members have been engaged to take classes," Chairman of JKBOSE, Prof Zahoor Ahmad Chatt said.

75 students have been selected through an online process from different districts of the Kashmir division on first come first serve basis, said Prof Chatt after inaugurating the programme at Lal Mandi here yesterday.

Rs 3,000 would be charged from each student for the coaching, he said.

The teaching would not only be curriculum based but the programme will also help students learn time management during competitive exams, Chatt said.

"The success of this programme depends on coordination between students and the faculty," the Chairman said.

Meena Pandita, Secretary of JKBOSE, advised students to work hard and to use the precious time thoroughly and contribute to the society in a best possible way.

Meanwhile, an official spokesperson said JKBOSE will organize convocation in Jammu this month to award gold medals to 89 meritorious students of class 10th and 12th from the state.
