JK Vigilance dept summons ACD over illegal construction

Jammu and Kashmir vigilance department has summoned Assistant Commissioner Development of Udhampur over an alleged illegal shopping complex which has come up on a government land on Jammu-Srinagar Highway in the district.

The three-storey shopping complex, owned by a big businessman, has illegally come up on the government land, according to the report submitted by the Additional Deputy Commissioner (DVO) Udhampur, a SVC spokesman said, adding that no prior permission from Rural Development department was taken.

"Besides, the report further said that the shopping complex has also been raised in violation to the JK Agrarian Reforms Act, 1976, the Prevention of Ribbon Development Act, 2007, as well as The Electricity Act and no action seems to have been taken by the then Assistant Commissioner, Udhampur against the violators resulting in huge loss to the State Exchequer," officer said.
