The meeting would be held shortly to discuss the suggestions made by Congress party for empowerment of Panchayats by incorporating necessary provisions of 73rd Amendment, document regarding which has already been finalised, Soz told reporters at a function here.
The former Minister said that the Panchayat Raj System would be further strengthened so that they can be an effective instrument of service to the people at the grass root level.
"After this exercise is over, the election to the Block Development Councils would also be held," he said.
He also assured Panchs and Sarpanchs that they would be provided honorarium and insurance cover to make the institutions more effective.
Soz appealed to all representatives of Panchayat to be on the forefront to fight against corruption and to ensure that various central and state-sponsored schemes are implemented properly at the grass root level.
Soz was attending a function to mark the first death anniversary of senior Congress leader Yash Paul Khajuria.
