JKJCCI to host expo in UK later this year

Jammu and Kashmir Joint Chamber of Commerce & Industry (JKJCCI) today said it is working towards organising a joint Kashmir exposition in the UK later this year and in the US in 2019.

President of the JKJCCI Javaid Ahmad Tenga chaired a meeting of the executive committee members from Kashmir today during which he informed about the goals of the new trade body.

"Tenga apprised the executive committee members about the goals to be achieved in 2018 which includes having a Joint Kashmir Expo in UK in the summer of 2018 and in the USA in 2019. A joint business delegation will also be sent to Turkey in 2018," the JKJCCI said in a statement.
 

Tenga said the the vision of JKJCCI is for free travel and trade regime across all parts of Jammu and Kashmir, where travel and trade will act as tool for peace between India and Pakistan.

"It was also decided that an effort will be made to have the first meeting of entire Executive Committee of the three regions or two regions at a time at Zero Point on Salamabad (Uri) and Poonch-Rawalkote (trade routes)," the statement added.

The JKJCCI will follow up with the concerned government of both the sides of Line of Control for a visit of traders from Jammu and Kashmir to Pakistan-occupied Kashmir "for which necessary invitation has been received and the process has already started," it added.

Tenga also apprised the members about the medium term goals which include establishment of physical office secretariat on both sides on the pattern of SAARC Chamber, the statement read.

"Besides, the long term goal to develop J&K as Free Economic Zone as well as Free Travel Zone," it said.
