Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party (JKNPP) today termed as a 'damp squib' Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Jammu and asked the people to launch a decisive battle to end the disparity with the region.

"The much hyped visit of Prime Minister in the bastion of the saffron brigade has turned out to be a damp squib which has left the people of Jammu region as a disappointed lot," JKNPP chairman Harsh Dev Singh told party workers here today.

Singh said that the people of Jammu and Kashmir had expectations that the Prime Minister would announced a massive financial package for the state and would also make an announcement for the setting up of AIIMS in Jammu.

"People's expectations were at its peak as they expected the announcement of first ever financial package in Dogra land as all such announcements in the past used to be made in Kashmir in the name of winning over the hearts and minds of the people of Kashmir," Singh said.

He accused the BJP of belying the aspirations of Jammu region who had pinned high hopes on the "much hyped visit".

"We give a call to the people of Jammu in general and Panthers Party workers in particular to rise to the occasion and to launch a decisive battle for realization of the denied parity and for ending the age old discrimination against Jammu," Singh said.

While urging the people of Jammu to "oppose, expose and depose the opportunist BJP", he said that it was the same party which had been donning the mantle of champion of Jammu while in opposition but had indulged in the "most shameless debauchery after attaining power".
