"We demand a CBI enquiry into the large scale bungling and misappropriation of crores of Rupees at the behest of Minister Manohar Lal Sharma to benefit his people", Young Panthers state secretary Manoj Kumar told reporters here.

Kumar said that illegal and back door appointments of domestic helpers was ordered by the Housing Cooperation's Managing Director, who has since retired but was re-employed by the Minister.

The Panthers Party demanded that the Minister be dismissed as he has already been notified by the State Accountability Commission (SAC) and the retired allegedly corrupt functionaries be removed from government service with immediate effect, he said.

"We urge Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, who claims giving a corruption-free administration to people of the state, to intervene personally into the allegations and set the system right, he said.

SAC headed by chairperson Justice Y P Nargotra and member Justice Hakim Imtiyaz Hussain on May 11 had issued notice to the respondents (Minister Manohar Lal Sharma, Commissioner Cooperatives, Abdul Hamid Wani and Registrar Cooperatives J&K, Mohmmad Abbas) for their appearance in person or through Advocate and reply within three weeks.
