The Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party (JKNPP) today targeted the BJP over soaring prices, especially of essential commodities, calling it as one of the failures of the PDP-BJP government.

"The raging inflation in pulses, vegetables, cereals, sugar, atta and other items of daily use had caused immense hardships for the indigent masses making even two square meals difficult for them," JKNPP chairman and former minister Harsh Dev Singh said in a statement here.

"Added to this was the steep hike and rapidly surging prices of petroleum products due to huge levies and cess imposed by the Central government which had a cascading effect on the prices of all commodities," Singh said.

The JKNPP leader claimed that the Jammu region has been neglected during the last three years of the PDP-BJP rule with the PDP "dictating terms".

"Be it the issue of employment, public service commission selections, Lakhanpur toll plaza, Dogra certificate, one constitution and one flag, Article 370 and state subjects to West Pakistani Refugees, the BJP leaders had made one compromise after the other thus making a mockery of the great sacrifices made by its past leadership," Singh alleged.
