Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party (JKNPP) today said it has decided to launch a movement for a separate Jammu state from April 1.

"The Party has decided to launch a movement for statehood for Jammu from April 1 at Block level in the entire Jammu Province," JKNPP President and former MLA Balwant Singh Mankotia told reporters here.

JKNPP has been strongly batting for trifurcation of Jammu and Kashmir, which including carving out separate states for Kashmir and Jammu regions and Union Territory for Ladakh.

He said that carving out a separate Jammu state is the ultimate solution to end the 70 years long discrimination with the Dogras of Jammu.

Mankotia alleged that the latest example of discrimination came to fore when the central government increased the number of seats in the post-graduate courses in medical colleges in the state to 70.

"But the Medical College in Jammu got just 13 seats while 57 others went to Kashmir Valley. This corroborate the fact that people of Jammu were facing discrimination even during the BJP rule at the Centre and in the state," he said.
