Jammu and Kashmir Congress chief Gulam Ahmed Mir today vacated the accommodation alloted to him during the previous PDP-BJP dispensation after a notice was issued to him by the Mehbooba Mufti goverment.

"Mir has vacated the government accommodation allotted to him by the previous government of Mufti Mohmmad Sayeed, a day before the deadline given by the government headed by Mehbooba Mufti," chief spokesperson of JKPCC Ravinder Sharma said.

Mir, a two-time minister in the Sayeed and Omar Abdullah governments in 2002 and 2009, was allotted the accommodation in a private house at Friends Enclave near Srinagar Airport on May 13, 2015 in his capacity as a former minister and party president.

However, he was asked to vacate it before April 15 in a notice issued on April 6.

This is for the first time that any party president has been asked to vacate government accomodation, Sharma alleged.
