The Jammu and Kashmir unit of Congress today welcomed the disciplinary action taken by the party high command against three leaders, saying their "indiscipline" was harming the interest of the party in the state.
"The action has been taken against them in view of their continued acts of omission and commission, which tantamounted to gross indiscipline and anti-party activities, harming the interests and maligning the image of the party," Congress unit spokesman Ravinder Sharma said here.
He was referring to the suspension of three party leaders Gulchain Singh Charak, Abdul Gani Vakil and Prem Sagar Aziz by the Central Disciplinary Committee of the AICC headed by A K Antony.

"The rank and file and the party for quite some time were of the view that there was need for a stern action against such elements, who have availed high positions due to the blessing of the party but have been indulging in highly irresponsible manner, creating indiscipline and factionalism among the party cadres," he said.
"The action by the party high command follows ample opportunity to such leaders to mend their ways. The same had become unavoidable and long overdue, which is the right step to ensure the required discipline, essential in any organization, for its smooth functioning," he added.
The JKPCC dubbed as "false and baseless" the charges being levelled by some of these leaders following action against them.
Sharma said the allegations were just an "after thought" and "more or less a vain attempt of face-saving exercise" by them.
"It is unfortunate that instead of repaying back to the party, at a time when it was desired, they indulged in unwarranted activities for their own self at the cost of party interests," he said.
The JKPCC expressed full-faith and confidence in the "dynamic leadership" of Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi "under whose leadership the party is strong and vibrant".
The Congress Vice President is "tirelessly working to further strengthen the party in the country by fighting against the politics of communalism, casteism and falsehood, for which he has the full backing of the entire rank and file of the party," the spokesman said.
